Baracca Backpackers

Baracca Backpacker Aurigeno is a tiny Hostel with only 13 beds but unlimited access to the peaceful outdoors and with a home-like atmosphere.

Situated off the beaten track in the beautiful Maggia Valley, in southern Switzerland (Ticino), just 13 km north of the Lake Maggiore, Locarno and Ascona.



How to get there

by train:
At the train station in Locarno catch bus no. 315 in the direction of Vallemaggia. It takes about approx 25 min. on the bus to get up the Valley. Please get off at 'Ronchini'. Cross the main road and walk up the road approx. 50 m, turn left and follow the hostel signs into the forest.
Cross the suspension bridge, turn right and keep on walking. It takes about 15 min. to reach Baracca Backpacker on foot. It's above the church of Aurigeno. (approx. 200m from the centre of the village)

by car:
From the Highway no. 2 (dir. Germany or Italy), take exit: "Bellinzona sud" (Locarno/Lago Maggiore), drive to Locarno (through the tunnel),approx. 500m. after the tunnel, take exit: Vallemaggia/Centovalli and keep on driving approx. 15 min., then turn left "Aurigeno / Moghegno". Follow the signpost "Backpacker", you can find us above the church of Aurigeno.
